About

Contemporary Art Stavanger consists of an online art journal as well as a physical residency program for critics, writers and researchers. Through our work, we aim to contribute meaningful conversation relevant to the Stavanger region’s art scene, while at the same time connecting the content to a larger national and international discourse – we therefore publish in both Norwegian and English. In addition to reviews, essays, and interviews, we explore the expansive possibilities of CAS’ online platform and investigate different ways of working with writers, residencies, and the format of art writing and criticism. We at CAS are dedicated to presenting a wide range of perspectives, voices, and subject matter. Read more

Chevrier x Whatson ‘Junction’

June 28, 2017 - July 29, 2017 Exhibition

About

It gives us great pleasure to announce the return at the Gallery of two artstars who will team up for an extraordinary collaboration show later this month.

CHEVRIER X WHATSON ‘JUNCTION’

Opening night: June the 28th at 19:00
Exhibition dates: June 28th – July 29th

One of the fastest rising stars on the contemporary pop art scene, Sandra’s stellar rise to fame has been as surprising to her as it has obvious to more seasoned art lovers. Since her debut with Reed Projects in 2013 Sandra has gone on to worldwide fame with sell out shows at home and abroad and media coverage to rival that of some of the worlds leading names in contemporary art.

A Nuart favourite and one of Norway’s leading stencil artists, Martin Whatson, cleverly combines the aesthetics of abstract graffiti and stencil art. His work brings together three often disparate aspects of visual culture, that of Classical Fine art, Graffiti and Street Art. Martin merges them together in a manner that is reminiscent of contemporary “mash ups”, but with a finesse and lightness of touch often missing from more activist based stencil work and its musical “mash up” counterpart. His distinctive urban scenes have brought him worldwide acclaim and an international band of fans and followers.

Chevrier x Whatson ‘Junction’ will feature 8 XL collaborative originals and two runs of 20 XL collaborative prints will be released as part of it.

Both artists will be in attendance, join us for a night of art, drinks and music!
