About

Contemporary Art Stavanger consists of an online art journal as well as a physical residency program for critics, writers and researchers. Through our work, we aim to contribute meaningful conversation relevant to the Stavanger region’s art scene, while at the same time connecting the content to a larger national and international discourse – we therefore publish in both Norwegian and English. In addition to reviews, essays, and interviews, we explore the expansive possibilities of CAS’ online platform and investigate different ways of working with writers, residencies, and the format of art writing and criticism. We at CAS are dedicated to presenting a wide range of perspectives, voices, and subject matter. Read more

About

Studio K: “Alt det me har bore”, Veslemøy Flotve (PAS)

Performance Art Stavanger presents in collaboration with Studio K an exhibition over 3 days with an interactive performance by Veslemøy Flotve.

“There is a lot of memories in our clothes that we wear every day. They can say a lot about who we are, where we come from and what age we live in. In our clothes there is a lot of history and memories. The smell from grandpas jacket, the colour of your teachers knitted sweater and your first leather jacket that you bought with your own money. Our garments gives an insight of what we carry with us.”

All that we carry is a project that explores the power tekstiles have to hold on to memories and bring stories to life. The project started with the artist processing inherited clothes from her female relatives. She cut them into strips and knitted them into a large textile piece. In the exhibition at Studio K, Flotve invites the audience to take part in a ritual that develops over three stages. Deconstruction of used clothes, transformation and reconstruction into something bigger.

You are invited to bring your own garments that you no longer have a need for and take part in the different stages. Preferably bring garments with a lot of history and memories attached.

Veslemøy Flotve has a BA in art from the University of Bergen. She is born and raised on the small island of Stord, but lives and works now in Stavanger. Her work primarily consists of textile and performance were she explores the boundaries between the material and the body. Topics that often occur in her work includes gender, identity, behavior and influences.
