About

CAS consists of an online art journal as well as a physical residency program for critics, writers and researchers. Through our work, we aim to contribute meaningful conversation relevant to the Stavanger region’s art scene, while at the same time connecting the content to a larger national and international discourse – we therefore publish in both Norwegian and English. In addition to reviews, essays, and interviews, we explore the expansive possibilities of CAS’ online platform and investigate different ways of working with writers, residencies, and the format of art writing and criticism. We at CAS are dedicated to presenting a wide range of perspectives, voices, and subject matter. Read more

Linda Lamignan & David Lamignan Larsen

January 29, 2022 @19:00 - 21:00 CET Performance

About

Transform. Time. Depth. Heat. Pressure
Kapittel 1: Dickamore Petro & Chem

Kapittel 3 vises i Stavanger svømmehall 12. mars kl. 19.

Stavanger Art Museum is proud to present a film screening and performance by Linda Lamignan and David Lamignan Larsen at The Norwegian Petroleum Museum.

Transform. Time. Depth. Heat. Pressure
Chapter 1: Dickamore Petro & Chem

On Saturday 29 January, the newly established company Dickamore Petro & Chem will be introduced at the Norwegian Oil Museum by their Norwegian partners. Unfortunately, it turns out that Dickamore Petro & Chem may not be what they thought it was, when stereotypes related to Western capitalism and toxic masculinity unfold on screen at the cinema in the Norwegian Oil Museum.

Duration: 45 minutes.

During the exhibition Experiences of Oil at Stavanger Art Museum, Linda Lamignan will appear in three public spaces with films and performances, together with David Lamignan Larsen. They use their own family history as a starting point – spanning Norway and Nigeria – to reflect on the history of oil. Rituals and genetic inheritance combine to channel different aspects of the complex industry. Three chapters are created using voices, coding, and transformations in an artwork that looks at how the oil industry affects the life experiences across borders. The chapters are shown in three places that represent different attitudes and connections to water.

Chapter 2 will take place at Stavanger Maritime Museum 26 February, 7 pm.
Chapter 3 will take place at Stavanger Swimming Pool (Lars Hertervigs gate 4) 12 March, 7 pm.

The work is supported by KORO and Arts Council Norway.
Generously supported by KORO, four commissioned works will take place in public space in the city of Stavanger during the exhibition period. For more information and full program, please visit www.stavangerkunstmuseum.no

Experiences of Oil is curated by Anne Szefer Karlsen og Helga Nyman.

Tickets are free, but need to be booked in advance: https://stavangerkunstmuseum.ticketco.events/no/nb/e/transform_time_depth_heat_pressure_chapter_1_dickamore_petro__chem

Please note that there are two screenings, one at 19:00 and one at 20:00. The tickets are not interchangeable and as a measure of safety due to Covid-19 there will be a maximum of 35 guests on each screening.

Duration: approx. 45 min.

We kindly ask that you wear masks upon arrival and departure, and that you keep a 1 m distance to other guests. The event complies with the national guidelines for cultural events. Please stay at home if you have any symptoms of Covid-19.
