About

Contemporary Art Stavanger consists of an online art journal as well as a physical residency program for critics, writers and researchers. Through our work, we aim to contribute meaningful conversation relevant to the Stavanger region’s art scene, while at the same time connecting the content to a larger national and international discourse – we therefore publish in both Norwegian and English. In addition to reviews, essays, and interviews, we explore the expansive possibilities of CAS’ online platform and investigate different ways of working with writers, residencies, and the format of art writing and criticism. We at CAS are dedicated to presenting a wide range of perspectives, voices, and subject matter. Read more

Kuppelkupp: Performance av Nils Bech

May 4, 2017 @19:00 - 21:00 CEST Lecture, Performance

About

Please scroll down for English

// English

This evening is dedicated to performance art. We are proud to present a performance-concert by the artist Nils Bech. We have also invited curator Natalie Hope O’Donnell (The Munch Museum in motion) to hold a lecture on performance art, drawing on examples from her own practise and past Kuppelkupp-projects.

We will launch the new catalogue for the exhibition “Maria Nepomuceno – Afetosyntesis”, including texts by Luisa Duarte and Hanne Beate Ueland.

Food and coffee from KOKKO.

7 PM: LECTURE ON PERFORMANCE ART
BY CURATOR NATALIE HOPE O’DONNELL (in Norwegian)

8 PM: PERFORMANCE BY NILS BECH
Norwegian musician and performance artist Nils Bech (b. 1981) and artist Ida Ekblad (b. 1980) have collaborated artistically for over a decade. At Kuppelkupp Bech will perform songs from his latest album ECHO (DFA/Fysisk Format, 2016), while interacting with new sculptural works by Ekblad.

In his performance concert ECHO Bech interacts with Ekblad’s artworks that carry eerily human qualities and act as placeholder for the storyteller, the lover or the object. By using the artwork as a conversation partner – or as stand-in for the person for whom the song was written – the mirroring opens up a parallel dialogue, representing the often conflicted ways of communication that lie at the core of Bech’s album ECHO.

KUPPELKUPP
Kuppelkupp puts the focus on art and social interaction. The programme includes performances, temporary art projects, lectures, conversations and debates. The museum’s glass cupola provides an excellent atmosphere with music, a bar and good food from our collaborating partners.
