Salongen er et kunstnerdrevet galleri og atelierkollektiv grunnlagt i 2019. Lokalet, som ligger i andre etasje i Normannsgate 24 i Stavanger, består av kunstnerstudioer, et galleri, kjøkken og stue. Selve gallerirommet er omkring 30 kvadratmeter, med stor takhøyde på 3 til 3,6 meter, og to skyvedører som gir mulighet for fleksible presentasjoner av kunstverk så vel som arrangementer.
Salongen ble til etter en samtale mellom kunstnere Camilla Løken, Kari Bukve og Vibeke Andersen i sommermånedene 2019. Planen var først å starte i det små, med et uformelt utstillingsrom for innovative ideer som endelig mål. Ønsket om et slikt sted viste seg imidlertid raskt, og plutselig hadde det blitt planlagt utstillinger et helt år frem i tid. Med sjenerøs veiledning fra Margrethe Aanestad (Prosjektrom Normanns), Torunn Larsen (Rogaland Kunstsenter) og Hans Edward Hammonds (Velferden og Studio 17) kunne kunstnerne klargjøre lokalene til utstillinger, planlegge programmet og søke om finansiering på svært kort tid.
Siden oppstarten har Salongen hatt 5 utstillinger, med mange flere planlagt for neste år. Stedet er fremdeles i høy grad et eksperiment og et læringsprosjekt, men med støtte fra Stavanger kommune, Rogaland Fylkekommune og det lokale kunstsamfunnet planlegger Salongen å renovere gallerirommet og holde flere arrangementer og utstillinger i de neste årene.

Salongen is an artist-run gallery space and studio collective founded in 2019. The space, located on the second floor of Normannsgate 24 in Stavanger, consists of artist studios, a gallery, kitchen, and lounge. The gallery space itself is approximately 30 square meters, with high ceilings measuring 3m to 3.6m from floor to ceiling, and two sliding doors that allow for flexible presentations of artwork as well as events.
Born from a conversation between artists by Camilla Løken, Kari Bukve and Vibeke Andersen in the summer months of 2019, and in collaboration with Kunstskolan i Rogaland, the space was initially planned to start slowly with the goal of creating an informal exhibition space for innovative ideas. However, the desire for the space proved itself, and suddenly exhibitions were planned through the following year. With generous guidance from Margrethe Aanestad (Prosjektrom Normanns), Torunn Larsen (Rogaland Kunstsenter) and Hans Edward Hammonds (Velferden and Studio 17), the artists were able to ready the space for exhibitions as well as plan the program and apply for funding in a very short amount of time.
Since its inception, Salongen has had 5 exhibitions, with many more planned for the coming year. The space is still largely experimental and a learning project, but with the support of Stavanger Kommune, Rogaland Fylkekommune, and the local arts community, Salongen plans to make improvements to the gallery space and host additional events and exhibitions in the coming years.
