Bryne Kunstforening

NO

Bryne Kunstforening (Bryne Art Association) was established in 1955 with the objective not only of exhibiting art, but also of creating interest and understanding for the visual arts and crafts. Bryne is a small town situated 30 minutes outside of Stavanger, and the association plays an important role in supporting the arts in the region. Bryne Kunstforening’s main activity is arranging exhibitions, and the association also hosts lectures, guided tours and a variety of other art-related events.

Since its founding, the art association has built an impressive collection with works by national artists from all regions of Norway. In the collection visitors can find works by Inger Sitter, Kjell Pahr-Iversen, Ellen Kalvig, Oscar Sørreime, Franz Widerberg, Karen og Jens Erland, Svend Unheim, Elise Storsveen and many more. Selected works from the collection are exhibited every year during the Summer Exhibition.

In 2009, Bryne kunstforening opened a gallery on a separate floor at Bryne Mølle (Bryne Mill), in the town center. The old mill houses two art galleries, venues for concerts and conferences, and a café. Bryne Kunstforening accepts ongoing exhibition proposals from artists, and if exhibitions require more space than the 164 sqm of the gallery,, they have the possibility of collaborating with the Andreas Bøe Gallery for additional space. Bryne Kunstforening arranges approximately four exhibitions a year.
